Dorothy Saville, 96, of Schnecksville, formerly of Chinchilla, died Friday at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown. Her husband, Thomas Saville, died in November 1991.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late William and Carolyn Frantz Singer, she was a resident of Schnecksville for the past 27 years. Before that, she lived on Scott Road, Chinchilla. She was known in both communities for her church involvement. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Clarks Summit, and a charter member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Chinchilla Hose Company. She served as president of the Schnecksville Senior Citizens Center for several terms and was active in the formation of the New Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Tripoli, where she attended faithfully.
She will be remembered by many and missed by all who knew her. She passed to eternal rest. She was the last surviving member of the family of Carrie Singer Phillips.
Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy Gustaitis, Hartford, Conn.; Judith Gustaitis, and husband, Albert, Wilmington, Del.; and Patricia Walck, and husband, Richard, Schnecksville; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
The funeral will be Saturday with services at 11 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, by the Rev. George Matthews, pastor, and the Rev. Scott Lingenfelter, pastor of New Life Lutheran Church. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Township.
Friends may call Friday, 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
