Dorothy Emily Matthews Lynn, So. Abington Twp., died Sunday afternoon at Abington Manor Nursing Facility. She was the widow of Joseph Kennedy Lynn who died in 1976.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Richard J. and Ruth Duffy Matthews. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Keystone Jr. College. During World War II she worked at Scranton Lace Co. After the death of her husband in 1976, she became the President of Matthews Bros. Wholesale Drug, retiring in 1983. She was an 80 year member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder and served as Moderator of the Deacons. She volunteered countless hours in serving her beloved church.

Dorothy was very family oriented. Her sons and her grandchildren meant the world to her.

Surviving are two sons, Mark J. and his fiancé, Josephine Territo, So. Abington Twp., and David S. and his wife Marie, La Jolla, CA; three grandchildren, Nicole D. Lynn, So. Abington Twp., Adam S. and Jason S. Lynn of La Jolla, CA; a sister, Mary Louise Matthews of Sanford, NC.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Lynn and two brothers, Arthur P. Matthews and Richard J. Matthews II.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Peter Cognetti for the compassionate care he gave to Dorothy.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 550 Madison Ave., Scranton, with services by Rev. Scott Loomer. Interment will follow in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.

Friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 9 am until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church or the Kiwanis Club of Scranton Foundation. 409 Kingsley Blvd., Peckville, PA 18452.
