Listen to Obituary
Dorothy Cohen Hunt, 90, of Clarks Summit, passed away on June 28, at Abington Manor in South Abington Township. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester W. Hunt, on August 8, 1989. They were married on February 14, 1944.

Dorothy is survived by her three children, Margaret Sweet of Moosic, Thomas Hunt of Clarks Summit and James Hunt and his wife Bonnie of East Benton; six grandchildren, Suzanne, Cathy, Christopher, Amy Jamie and Leslie, as well as two great grandchildren, Stephanie and Stephen.
Dorothy worked for the Scranton Dry Goods and managed the Scranton Dry country store in Clarks Summit until it closed. She then managed Costa Card Shop in Clarks Summit for over twelve years.

She was an active member of the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church until her illness prevented her from attending. She loved reading, jigsaw puzzles, and playing card games. She was a talented artist and during the Second World War had over a hundred people write a letter to her husband deployed overseas. Interspersed throughout were pinup drawings and comics which she drew. The result was a letter 114 feet in length, rolled on a scroll which took her husband's platoon over two and a half hours to read. The letter somehow found its way home from the Pacific and continues to be something worth seeing.

Dorothy will truly be missed by her family, friends and church family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 5th at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 until time of service. All are welcome to attend.
Participating clergy will be Amy Raser, pastor and Sarah Miller, retired United Methodist pastor.
