Doris A. Major, 75, a resident of the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock, passed away Monday morning at Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock.  Her husband was the late Charles Major who died in 2014.

Born in New York, she was the daughter of the late Cecile Tuttle and the late Milton and Ann Masgula Woodruff.  Doris was employed for many years as a seamstress for Irene Sportswear in Nicholson.  She came from a large family of six brothers and seven sisters.

Surviving are her son Paul L. Cosner, Clarks Summit; two daughters, Lucrezia Bonifanti and her husband Joe, Tunkhannock and Christine Robinson and her husband Joe, Tunkhannock; a stepson, Charles Major, Scranton; a stepdaughter, Anessa Major, Greely, PA; nine grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Woodruff, Matt Karhnak, Lucrezia Holgate, Heather Guzzon, Kristy Loney, Rachel, Zach and Hayley Cosner; nine great grandchildren; four step grandchildren.

Friends may call on Saturday from 2 to 4 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State, Clarks Summit.  Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family in Sunnyside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be welcome to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd., So. Abington Twp., PA  18411.
