Donald W. Capwell, 91, of Clarks Summit died Tuesday evening At Neighborhood Hospice Unit in West Chester. He was the husband of the late Melba Rozelle Capwell who died in 2013.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Glenn and Ethel Barnes Capwell. He was a graduate of Clarks Summit High School and was a proud Army veteran who served in World War II in France and Normandy. He spent eight months as a prisoner of war and earned a purple heart. Prior to his retirement he was employed by the United States post office for over 30 years. He was a member of the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church.

Donald was a member of the Masonic Lodge #301 F&AM for over 50 years, a 30 year member of the Abington Memorial VFW Post 7069, and also the Clarks Summit Volunteer Fire Company.

Surviving is a daughter Laura Dietrich and her husband Bob, Downingtown; two sons Thomas Capwell, Lincoln University; and Gary Capwell, Tucson AZ; and grandchildren Jennifer Dietrich Shotto and Shawn Dietrich.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Brown.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:30am from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street Clarks Summit Pa. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Friends may call Saturday from 10am until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Hwy Clarks Summit Pa. 18411.
