Donny Skinner, loving son of Joe and Shirley Skinner of Clarks Summit, passed away unexpectedly in the arms of his parents at Community Medical Center.
Born on June 22, 1976, and educated by the NEIU and Dunmore High School, Donny worked in the workshop at Allied Services on Morgan Highway.
He was a charter member of the Challenger Little League, where he played and was a "Buddy Coach" for nine years. He was active in the ARC Fun and Friendship Bowling League and was a member of the Area P Special Olympics golf team. He also loved doing service projects with the Abington Lions Club.
Mr. Ambassador, as he was known, enjoyed riding his bicycle, stopping to talk with every person and flirting with every lady he met along the way. He always had a smile and a friendly "Hi" for everyone. He had a special way with people. He was liked by everyone who knew him for more than 30 seconds.
His favorite TV shows were Tool Time, Bay Watch (surprise), and he watched QVC for many years, but never bought a single thing. He held season tickets for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, with his aunt Kathy, Section 129 seats G1 and G2, and loved to watch the ballgames with her.
Donny is survived by his devoted sister, Christy, and her husband John Muick, and their two children, Donovan "Donny" and Kelsey, New Tripoli; and several uncles and aunts and many cousins. He will also be sorely missed by his companions, Beauregard and Lucas.
Donny's family would like to express many thanks to the Davita Kidney Dialysis team at Allied Services as well as all the knowledgeable and dedicated doctors and nurses and hospital staff who have helped us to provide Donny with a great quality of life.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Donald and Barbara Stark; his paternal grandparents, Leon and Ester Skinner; step-grandmother, Bea Skinner; and cousin, Daniel Stark.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Craig Sweeny, pastor of Church of the Epiphany in Glenburn.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARC Recreation Program, 115 Meadow Ave., Scranton, PA 18505; or Area P Special Olympics golf program, P.O. Box 188, Carbondale, PA 18407.
