Donald S. Nesbitt, 90, of Clarks Summit died Friday afternoon at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility, Scranton. His wife was the late Wilma Jean Jourdan Nesbitt who died in 2012. The couple had been married for 57 years.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Clarence Sherman and Anna Burns Nesbitt. He was a graduate of Clarks Summit High School. Don was a proud Army veteran serving in WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church and the Abington VFW Post No. 7069. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a sheet metal worker at Anemostat HVAC. He had also been a volunteer at Allied Services and was also instrumental in bringing foreign exchange professionals to study at Marywood University.
Don was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping but the greatest love in his life was spending time with his family.
Surviving are two sons, John and wife, Mary, Reading; and William and wife, Diane, Factoryville; a sister Marjorie Winter, Nicholson; Elizabeth Machek, Evansville, Ind., a son- in- law Thomas Otto, Jermyn; eight grandchildren, Melissa Ransom and her companion Floyd Bump, Towanda, Jason Legg, Jermyn, and Deierdra Farrell and her companion Matt Gormley, White's Crossing; Sarah White and husband, James, Mount Bethel; David Kamora, Birdsboro; Michelle Bixby and husband Brandon Wolkers State College.; Adam Bixby, Scranton and Heather Bixby and her companion Bryan Bowers , Susquehanna; and thirteen beloved great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Amy Otto, a brother Jack Nesbitt, and a sister-in-law Carolyn Jourdan.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:30am from the Dalton United Methodist Church, 125 S. Turnpike Rd. Dalton Pa, 18414. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Fort Indian Town Gap, Annville.
