Donald J. Kulig, Clarks Summit, died Saturday at the Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife is the former Mary Rock. The couple would be married 46 years in June.

Born in Hazleton, Pa., he was the son of the late Louis and Gertrude Kulig. Prior to retirement, he worked in finance for the Regency Corp. He was a graduate of West Hazleton High School in 1964 and an Army veteran serving from 1966 to 1969. He was an Abington youth coach for soccer, baseball and softball. He was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish as well as Knights of Columbus.

Also surviving are a son, Brian Kulig of Clarks Summit; a daughter, Tracey Davis and her husband, Todd of Clarks Summit; a granddaughter, "Princess" Michaelene Kulig, the light of his life; a sister, Lois Calarco and her husband, Marcel of Hazleton; sisters-in-law, Thelma Yashur, Hazleton; and Theresa Rushinock, Zion Grove; a brother-in-law, Dominic Rock, North Carolina; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Kulig; sisters-in-law, Patricia Kulig and Catherine Rock; brothers-in-law, John Yashur, John Rushinock and Joseph Rock.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, Pa. Interment with military honors will be in Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
