Donald Lee Hosier

Donald Lee Hosier, S. Abington Twp. Died Tuesday in the Hospice Community Care Center in Dunmore. His wife of over 50 years is the former Sara Ann Updegraff.

Born and raised in Scranton, Don was the son of the late Dr. Carl L. and Dorothy Weiskerger Hosier. He attended Scranton public schools, a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy and Junior College, also attending Rider College and Penn State University. He did graduate work at the School of Professionalism, General Motors Institute, and became a member of the Society of Sales Executives.

For 22 years he lived in York, PA where he was the general manager of Doll Pontiac and later Ammon R. Smith Auto Company. While there he belonged to the Out Door Country Club and Eastminister Presbyterian Church.

In 1980 he returned to Scranton where he entered into the management capacity of the automobile industry. He also served as a vice president of the Citizens Savings Association where he created auto leasing. He was a U S Navy Veteran of the Korean War, he served in combat with air intelligence aboard the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain. He was a member of the Scranton Canoe Club, Skytop Club, Glen Oak Country Club, VFW Post 7069, American Legion Post 0945, the Gulf Shrine Club, West Shore Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, Harrisburg Consistory, and Demitted to Irem Temple from Zembo Shrine. After retirement he became an Audiest and tested hearing at many senior centers as well as privately.

Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey and his wife Carol, Carl and his wife Susan; six grandchildren, Andy and his wife Noel, Kyle, Kaylin, Keegan, Kullan Hosier, Leah and her husband Scott Doutrich; two step grandchildren Ashley Wisner and her husband Jeremy and Andrew Arnold; a great grandchild Max Doutrich; three step grandchildren Kelsey Wisner, Peyton and Mason Buck; a niece Sharon Karasack and her husband Don and thier families as well as other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Doris Beitzel and a niece Jacquie Simmons.

Don will be greatly missed by all who loved him and his epicurean lifestyle filled with good humor and living life to the utmost.

The funeral will be held on Friday at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit with services by the Rev. William Carter, pastor. Interment will be in Abington Hills Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10am until the time of the service at the church.
