Donald Evan Cole, 60, of Benton Hills and formerly of Lake Winola, died Friday morning at the VA Medical Center in Plains Twp. His wife is Barbara Cole. The couple was married for seven years May 4.

Born Sept. 2, 1949, in Blassburg, son of the late Marilyn and William McKenna, he attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Dalton. He attended schools in the Wellsboro and Mansfield areas. He received his GED from Indian River High in Vero Beach, Fla. Before his illness, Don had been a truck driver for M.S. Carries in Tennessee, Chemfleet in Canada and Tracey Oakley in Nicholson, which gave him his first trucking job. He assisted as a scout leader.

Don served two tours in Vietnam, having received a Purple Heart. His interests included the Philadelphia Eagles, building models, country music, reading and movies. Trucking was his passion, but family was his life, especially his boys and grandchildren. His family stayed by his bedside and will truly miss him.

Also surviving are three sons, Bradley and companion, Pam Cummings, Lake Winola; Greg, formerly of Lake Winola; and Don-Ashley, Spring Brook; three step-children, Tara, Brian and Eric Tesar, all of Wilkes-Barre; a sister, Patricia Kelly McKenna Horgan and husband, Edward, Clarks Summit; a brother, David, Kingston; an aunt, Donna Boath and husband, John, Fredericktown, Pa.?; five stepgrandchildren, Haley and Reley Cummings, Lake Winola; and Tyler, Treyilis and Cammeron Young, Wilkes-Barre; a niece, Shannon Horgan, and a nephew, Eddie Horgan, both of Clarks Summit; and several cousins.?

He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Kathleen McKenna, and his grandparents, Lee and Geraldine Soper English and Donald Soper.

There will be a funeral service Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Larry Walter, pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Friends may call Monday, 4 to 7 p.m.
