Donald Bytheway

Donald Lee Bytheway "Doo-Wop Don" "Donco", 82, of Tunkhannock passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at home.

Born on April 4, 1944, in Kingston, he is the son of the late Donald and Margaret (Atkinson) Bytheway.

He was raised in Trucksville, PA and attended Dallas School District and Luzerne Valley Vocational School, studying with an emphasis on electronics.

Don served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962 until 1970. After being honorably discharged, he moved back to the Northeast Pennsylvania and worked for Penn Yan Machinery until 1984. Don then started his own successful business, Donco Appliance Repair, retiring in 2022.

He was a musician and a longtime member of the Northeastern PA Doo Wap Association. He was also a member of the American Historic Jukebox Society. Additionally, having owned several vintage cars, he was also a member of the Mid-Century Mercury Car Club.

Don is survived by his former wife, Donna Bytheway of Lucerne Valley, CA; sons, Kirk Bytheway and his wife Quinn, Kim Bytheway and his wife Mary of Julian, PA; daughter, Jamie Bytheway of Mill Valley, CA; his beloved companion, Marcia Balberchak of Plymouth, PA; brothers, David Bytheway of Wilkes-Barre, PA and Scott Bytheway and his wife Robin of Noxen, PA; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Melanie (Bytheway) Nickerson; granddaughter, Lori Bytheway.

Family and friends are invited to attend Don's Celebration of Life which will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 6:00 PM from the Marcho, Sheldon, and Kukuchka Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until the time of service on Friday.
