Dolores (Dee) Elizabeth Shaw-Battersby Holt, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2021 at home. Dee was the loving daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Battersby. Dee was married to John C. (Bud) Holt for 57 ½ years before he passed.
Dee was born on May 13, 1940 in Camden, NJ and was raised in Gloucester City. She graduated from Gloucester City High School where she was a member of the girl's basketball team, who she always was proud to say won the West Jersey Girl's Championship of 1958. While in school, Dee was also a manager of the school's field hockey team.
Dee had several special hobbies. For years, Dee and Bud enjoyed traveling to many US states and Canada. Her favorite trip was to Nova Scotia. Dee also enjoyed playing any type of game with her grandchildren or her "three special boys", Brit, Alex, and Evan.
Most of her life enjoyment came from her time spent with the children in her life. When Dee became Gramma Dee and Aunt Dee her happiness increased beyond belief for years. She loved babysitting the kids and watching them grow up. Whether it be attending their sporting events, going to the state park for picnics, or taking the kids out for lunch, Dee loved it all. One of her favorite trips was with the Perry-Giblin family to see Nolan Ryan's induction into the hall of fame.
Dee is survived by her children, Debbie Plantholt and husband Bill, John Holt and wife Rose, Tammy Vanfleet and husband Brian, and Wendy Babushko and husband Carl. Also survived by her grandchildren Jessica Harvey and husband David, Olivia Plantholt, Andrew Holt, Katie Holt and fiancé Eddie, Sam Holt Babushko, Nick Vanfleet, and Nate Vanfleet. As well as three very special young men Brit, Alex, and Evan Perry-Giblin.
Dee is survived by her brother Jim Battersby and wife Patricia of Gloucester City, NJ.
She also has many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Also surviving are Dee's best friends Beth Perry, Norma Walker, Arlene Rutland, and Myrtle Walker.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bud and her youngest daughter Kelly Marie. As well as her two brothers John and Joseph Battersby and two nephews Timmy and Joey.
Our family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Sean McCall and Mom's team from Hospice of the Sacred Heart including Nurse Kathryn, Jennifer, Ellen, Sarah, and Dana. All of her caregivers have been very caring and compassionate to our mother and our family.
