Dayle Hemingway Swisher, Clarks Summit, died Saturday at Region Hospital of Scranton. Her husband of 38 years is Charles L. Swisher, M.D.
Born in Kingston on November 9, 1946 she was the daughter of the late Robert Hemingway and Esther Banks Parkinson. Dayle graduated from Kingston High School, received her diploma in Nursing from Nesbitt Hospital School of Nursing, and her B.S.N. from Wilkes College. She then moved to the Washington, D.C. area where she was a nurse at the Georgetown University Hospital. Thereafter she worked at Arlington Hospital in Virginia where she met her loving husband, Charles. She returned to Northeastern Pa. in 1975 where she and her husband raised their three children and devotedly followed all of their school and athletic activities. When her husband had a private medical practice in West Scranton, she worked as his nurse.
Dayle made friends easily. She loved reading, eating out and following her favorite sports teams, the New York Yankees and the Washington Redskins.
Also Surviving are two sons, William F. Swisher and wife Bethany,; Mark H. Swisher,; her daughter, Devon E. Swisher and husband Justin A. Santi,; two grandchildren, Avery Grace and William Charles Swisher,; a sister Marilyn Daily and husband Mark H. Swenson,; as well as many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dayle was also preceded in death by her step-father, William Parkinson.
Friends may call Monday 5 to 8 from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services 418 S. State St. Clarks Summit.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 from the funeral home. Interment will follow in Clarks Green Cemetery.
