David Modesty Cucura, 41, Dickson City died Saturday morning at the Regional Hospital in Scranton.
Born in Carbondale he was the son of Colleen M. Packer Cucura, Factoryville and David L. Cucura, Fleetville. He worked with Keystone Community Resources.
He was a big Eagles fan and loved to share a beer. David loved the Eagles ever since they visited him at The Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia when he was little. David loved watching Sunday night football with his brother Justin and Stepfather Gary. With the help of both Aveanna and Caring for People, David was cared for in his home where he loved to be. David loved spending time with his younger sister Chelsea, who was a great caregiver, and creating memories for his nephews. He also loved when his Grandma Rose would bring him dinner and spend time with him.
David was a ladies man and the ladies loved David. He will be missed for his famous line, "Are you married? I'm single!" He had high standards for prospective love interests, the criteria included that they have a car and a job. David loved his job at Keystone Community Resources; he was their best worker. He loved racing cars on his Playstation and often convinced people he had a real race car!
David's mother, Colleen, will miss his giant hugs and, because of her determination and love for her son, he was able to have what others may take for granted, a normal life. David was larger than life and, despite all his health complications and disabilities, he never stopped living life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by his many family and friends.
Also surviving are a sister, Chelsea Cucura Chaparro and her husband Andrew, Mayfield; a brother, Justin Cucura, Factoryville; nephews, Kai and Shiloh Chaparro, Mayfield; maternal grandmother, Rose Packer, LaPlume; stepfather, Gary Franke, Factoryville.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joseph Packer and his paternal grandparents Modesty and Mary Cucura.
