Daniel Marzani, 93, died June 20
in Allied Skilled Nursing.
Born in Peckville, he was the son of the late Bruno and Emma Giombetti Marzani. Daniel attended private school in South Carolina before joining the United States Navy. His 19
th
birthday was spent fighting during the D-Day invasion in Normandy, France. Daniel was an exceptionally accomplished steeple chase rider until he retired from competing when he was 26 years old. He then spent the next 30 years as a trainer and owner of racehorses in Virginia before moving back to Clarks Summit to enjoy retirement. Throughout the years, he suffered from several injuries, cancer, and the loss of his children, but he continued to persevere.
He is survived by his brother Bruno "Pepper" Marzani, sister Rita Smith, uncle Eddie Giombetti, brother-in-law Frank "Butch" Colombo; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his sons Stephen and Daniel, Jr., brother Nello, former wife Madelyn Colombo Marzani, and long-time companion Peggy Haver.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in
Abington Hills Cemetery.
