Daniel Thomas Fogarty, 79, of Clarks Summit died Monday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. His wife was the former Virginia E. Lachmann, who also died Monday morning. The couple had been married for 57years.
Born in Manhattan NY, he was the son of the late Daniel T. and Mary Cannon Fogarty. He was a graduate of Bogota High School in Bogota NJ and was a US Navy Veteran serving on the USS Macon. Prior to his retirement he was employed as traffic manager for Sandvik Steel Co. Daniel and his wife Virginia were both founding members of the Sandvik Retiree Association. He was also a member of the Abington Memorial VFW Post 7069.
Daniel was a loving father, grandfather, and especially a wonderful husband who such great care of his wife during her illness.
Surviving is a son Kevin, Clarks Summit; four daughters, Keren Ann Miller, and husband Jeff, Jessup; Kelly Weaver, and husband Kenneth, Mountaintop; Kathy Fogarty, Clarks Summit; and Linda Durso, and husband Mike, Waymart; eight grandchildren Devon and Daniel Fogarty, Alyssa and Lindsay Miller, Brittany Zeunges, Gabrielle, Brooke, and Mikey Durso, one great granddaughter Hailey Zeunges, two nephews Stephen and Jeffery Fogarty and one niece Donna McLaughlin.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Billy and Donald, and a sister Alma Gingres.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday December 15th at 9am from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St. Clarks Summit Pa. 18411.,to be celebrated by Msgr. James McGarry, Pastor and co-celebrated by Rev. Robert McLaughlin, great nephew. Internment at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call Friday December 14th from 5 to 8pm, with a blessing service to be held at 7:30, from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Clarks Summit Pa. 18411.
