Cynthia "Cindy" Smaccki Haynes, 60, of Factoryville, died Wednesday morning in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Her husband is John Haynes. The couple married on July 19, 1975.
Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late August and Marie Smaccki.
When her mother passed away at a young age, Cindy lived with her grandmother and grandfather and her aunt. Her father was the police chief in Old Forge for many years. She attended St. Mary's School and was a 1972 graduate of Old Forge High School. She was a member of St. Ann's Church, Scranton. She was employed as a hair stylist at Hairloft and Headhunters, and was previously employed by Vermont Sportswear, Fashions International; and at J. J. Supers Restaurant, Applebee's Bar & Grill as a prep cook, hostess and manager trainer; as well as at Keystone College and Abington Manor Nursing Home.
She loved going to the Poconos to watch the Nascar racing and her favorite driver, Rusty Wallace. She also enjoyed Oakland Raiders football and loved going fishing with her husband and watching his frustration when the big one got away. Cindy loved her garden of flowers and always helped her husband with cutting the grass.
Cindy was a fantastic mother and wife and will be remembered for the good times enjoyed with her family, she was irreplaceable.
Also surviving is a son Brian, Factoryville.
John and Brian would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Geisinger Medical Center in Scranton and Danville for doing everything possible to save Cynthia's life.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 7 pm from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by Fr. Jeffrey Tudgay. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, prior to the service.
The family requests that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the family to help offset funeral expenses.
