Constance H. Winlock Watson, 94, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday afternoon at Allied Skilled Nursing in Scranton. She was the wife of the late George L. Winlock Jr., who died in 1950. He owned and operated Camp Choconut and Camp Choquita in Friendsville, Susquehanna County, Pa.
Born in Brookline, Mass., she was the daughter of the late William and Frances Snyder Hayden. She attended the Buckingham School in Cambridge, Mass., Ashley Hall in Charleston, S.C., and graduated from Lower Merion High in Ardmore, Pa. Upon graduation, she attended business school in Binghamton, N.Y. Following her husband George's death, she directed Camp Choconut for four years. At the time, it was the second-oldest family-run camp in Pennsylvania. Later, she became the medical secretary for the chief of surgery of Bryn Mawr Hospital. In 1967, she married William Watson, and when he died in 1971, she went to work for TV Guide in Radnor, Pa. Upon retiring from TV Guide, she moved to Northeast Pennsylvania to be near her daughter, Rachel, but lived independently until her death. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Ardmore, and the Eastern Star.
Constance loved sports, puzzles, reading and, most especially, her family.
Surviving are a son, George Winlock, Kissimmee, Fla.; two daughters, Rachel Baildon and husband, John, Clarks Summit; and Anne Karkut and husband, Michael, Polk City, Fla.; four grandchildren, Ted Baildon and wife, Tracy, Norristown, Pa.; Carrie Baildon, Collegeville, Pa.; Rachel Porter and husband, Brett, Conover, N.C.; and Dr. Christopher Karkut and wife, Kerry, Grand Island, N.Y.; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
