Colin A. Holen, 27, of Dalton, formerly of West Allis, Wis., died unexpectedly on Christmas morning when he lost his long-standing struggle with addiction.

Born in West Allis, Wis., he was the son of Dale and Kathleen "Kathy" Stevenson Holen, Dalton. He was a 2006 graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School and was employed as a pole restoration servicer for Osmose Utilities Services Inc.Colin was energetic, daring and free spirited from the day he was born and was affectionately nicknamed "Colin Monster" by the age of 2.He had an infectious smile and sense of humor that could light up any room.

He enjoyed biking, longboarding, skateboarding, snowboarding, music festivals, camping, traveling, reading and most of all spending every minute possible with his family, especially with his niece and nephew, whom he dearly loved.He had a profound love for animals including his dogs, Tater and Riley.Colin was passionate, caring and insightful.

He had a deep love and respect for his longtime girlfriend, Jamie. He was a fiercely loyal friend and an incredibly loving brother and son, who was always available to provide comic relief when needed.As stated by his longest best friend CJ a few days ago, "His loyalty to his friends and loved ones was unwavering."We will forever miss your huge heart, blue eyes, smile, creativity and gentle manner. Our sweet boy, we'll love you always.

Also surviving are a sister, Ashlie Holen, Dalton; maternal grandmother, Virginia Stevenson, Florida; a niece and nephew, Julia and Benjamin Holen-Jenkins, Dalton; uncles and aunts, Kevin Stevenson, Seattle, Wash.; Daryl and Nancy Holen; Diana Donnelly and Dave Holen, all of Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Arnold and Dorothy Holen; and maternal grandfather, M.W. Stevenson.

The funeral service and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
