Clare A. Fisne, 82, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the wife of Joseph Fisne Sr. The couple had been married more than 60 years.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Monaghan Patterson, she graduated salutatorian of the 1949 class of St. Paul's High School. She attended Marywood College, where she majored in English. Before retirement, she was employed at Moses Taylor Hospital for more than 35 years as an in-service secretary. She was also a CPR instructor for the American Heart Association. Clare was a member of St. Benedict's Church in Newton, where she served as a lector.

Clare was an avid poet. She composed the poem "The Cross" for the dedication of the cross at St. Benedict's Church. She also had a great love for dogs. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy Castelletti, Clarks Summit; and Karen Decker and husband, Jim, Gainesville, Va.; two sons, Joseph Fisne and wife, Rosanne, Olyphant; and Richard Fisne and wife, Pamela, Centreville; two brothers, James Patterson and wife, Patricia, Moscow; and Joseph Patterson, Scranton; two sisters, Elizabeth Cris and husband, Edward, Temecula, Calif.; and Jean Boland, Huntington Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren, Sgt. Sean Fisne and wife, Kat; Brian, Marianne, Kelly and Christopher Fisne; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Fisne; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Vivian Dwyer; and son-in-law, Richard Castelletti.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Church of St. Benedict, Newton-Ransom Boulevard, Clarks Summit. All those attending are asked to go directly to church. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
