Claire E. Creegan died Wednesday afternoon at the Abington Manor Nursing Home in Clarks Summit. She was the wife of the late Robert Creegan, who died in 1976.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Delia Ruane Kane. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of East Stroudsburg University, where she earned a degree in education. She was a volunteer for many charitable organizations, such as St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen and the Association for the Blind. She was a former member of St. Clare's Parish. Her many hobbies included sewing, gardening and reading. She was a loving and devoted mother and Nana.
A special thanks to the staff at Abington Manor for taking great care of Claire during her stay there.
Surviving are two sons, Michael and wife, Julie, Clarks Summit; and Kevin and wife, Joan, Clarks Summit; a daughter, Joyce Fontana and husband, Tom, West Chester; six grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Andrew, Michael, Ashley and Sheila; two great-grandchildren, Chancelor and Tristin; several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Cyril Kane; and three sisters, Kathryn Racine, Jeanne Hennemuth and Mary Kane.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Church of St. Gregory, 330 N. Abington Road, Clarks Green, to be celebrated by Monsignor John Louis, pastor. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
Friends may call Saturday, 8:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.
