Christopher Loren Dixon

Christopher Loren Dixon, 22, of Dalton, died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of David L. and Kathleen J. Scappatura Dixon. He was a 2011 graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School, attended Penn State Worthington Campus for 2 years and was currently attending Penn State University Main Campus.

While in high school he excelled in sports, including being Captain of the Lions football team and Captain of the Lackawanna County Dream Team. He was also an accomplished wrestler, earning many awards. Chris was a friendly young man who met everyone with a smile, he will be remembered for his kind, loving and generous personality.

Also surviving is a brother, Ryan Dixon and his wife Shauna, Virginia Beach; maternal grandparents, Gene and Jane Scappatura, Dalton; paternal grandfather, Loren K. Dixon, Factoryville; three uncles, Mark Scappatura and his wife Marcy, Lake Winola; Peter Scappatura and his wife, Sue, Dalton; Rick Dixon and his wife Nadine, Factoryville; an aunt, Donna Dixon, Stroudsburg; eight cousins, Rachel, Kaitlyn, Susan, Emily, Marisa and Julie Scappatura and Liam and Courtney McMahon; and his beloved dog, Noah.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Jane Dixon; and an uncle, Michael Scappatura.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10 am from Our Lady of the Abingtons Church, 700 West Main St., Dalton, PA 18414, with services by Rev. Thomas J. Petro, pastor. All those attending are asked to go directly to church. Interment will follow in Abington Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 8 at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
