Cheri Lynn Moran

Cheri Lynn Moran, Clarks Summit, died Monday morning at her home.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Danverse H.and Alice C. Wademan Tompkins. Prior to retirement, she managed the  labeling department at Penthouse Meats for almost two decades, worked as a medical assistant for Northeast Eye Institute for over a decade, and leading up to retirement she worked as a Home Health Aide where she formed a close bond with her clients and their families. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Tunkhannock. She was also a member of the Dalton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Cheri was dedicated to her role in the Dalton Ladies Auxiliary where, in most recent years, she served as President, receiving her lifetime membership plaque of 20 years in 2020.  She had a passion for painting ceramics and gifting them to loved ones.  She had an adventurous side that included whitewater rafting the Colorado River, Lehigh River, and the Rogue River in her hometown of Grants Pass, Oregon.  She was known for her red hair and her warm and bright personality.  Most people would say she was like a second Mom or a good friend.  Her sincerest devotion was being a mother and especially being a grandmother.  Her purest joy was having all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren together for Sunday dinners or poolside for summer picnics.

Surviving are a son, Eric Smith and his wife Maria Rosa of Scranton; three daughters, Michelle Smith and her partner Kevin Grunza of Archbald, Shannon Fuller and her husband Timothy of Pleasant Mount, and Meagan Palaskas and her husband Aaron of Scranton; grandchildren Christopher, Morrigan, Traci, Rachel, Victoria, Alexandra, Owen, Reed, Casey, and Cassandra; great grandchildren Lauren, Bryant, Blake, and Maverick; brothers Douglas and Daniel Tompkins, both of Oregon; sister Renee Schroeder of Oregon; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companion of fifteen years, Petunia.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dalton Fire Company.
