Charles Thomas, 70, of Lake Ariel, died Tuesday morning at home. His wife of 29 years is the former Virginia Richards.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Franklin and Catherine Adamitis Thomas.
Before retirement, he was self-employed in the logging business. He was also a lifelong craftsman in woodworking and an avid hunter who loved and enjoyed his pets.
He was a strong man with a great sense of humor and was considered a very good friend by many he knew. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tammy Thomas, Wilkes-Barre; and Tina Lysak, Ransom; a stepson, Richard Lewert, Jessup; two stepdaughters, Karen Lewert, Archbald; and Kathy Agostini, Old Forge; a brother, Tommy Thomas, New Jersey; a sister, Patricia Jones, Florida; two grandchildren, Mike and Nicole Thomas; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Gabriel Thomas, on Feb. 19, 2010.
A blessing service will be held Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Jeffrey Tudgay.
