Charles H. Simonson, 79, of Glenburn, died Wednesday at Moses Taylor Hospital. His wife, Mary Barry Simonson, died in 1997.
Born in Dunmore, son of the late Warren and Myrtle Nicholson Simonson, he served in the Army during World War II. For 28 years, he was employed as a line painter for the state Department of Transportation. He was also a life member of the Dalton Fire Company Fire Police and the Fireman's Federation.
Surviving are three sons, Gerald, Glenburn; Charles, Taylor; and Patrick, Clarks Summit; a daughter, Kathleen Wheeland; Scranton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, by the Rev. Brain Lucas, pastor of Dalton United Methodist Church. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
