Charles Major, Hop Bottom, formerly of Clarks Summit, died Tuesday afternoon at Geisinger Community Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. His wife is the former Doris Woodruff, the couple married on April 5, 1986.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Fred Charles and Alma Jean Ardoline Major. He was currently employed as a driver for Gress Poultry, previously working with Defazio Express, Road Scholar and Parry Trucking. Charlie was a man of the Catholic faith who enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He will be deeply missed by his best friends, Zeke and Phoebe. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sons, Charles A. Major of Scranton, and Paul Cosner of Glenburn; three daughters, Annessa Major, Clarks Summit, and Lucrezia Bonifanti, and Chris Robinson, both of Tunkhannock; three brothers, Theodore "Teddy", Jessup, Jeffrey of New Jersey, and the Rev. Thomas J., pastor of St. Ann, Shohola, PA; a sister, Norina Van Sickle, Clarks Summit; fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Angel and Kaila Bigelow and a brother Patrick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 am from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by his brother Rev. Thomas J. Major.

Friends may call from 9 am until time of Mass at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to True Friends Animal Welfare, 16332 S. R. 706, Montrose, PA 18801 or Annual Flaming Foliage Motorcycle Run at Lake Carey Volunteer Fire Co., 16 Siren Rd., Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
