Cecelia Carrera of Clarks Summit, formerly of Scranton, died Monday morning at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. She was the widow of Samuel A. Carrera, who died Jan. 7, 1990.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Zygmunt and Stella Waskiewicz Levando-ski, she attended Scranton Technical High School. Before retirement, she was a seamstress for various garment companies in Scranton. She was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church.

She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother whose first concern was her family. Mom, Grandma Ceil or Mimi, as she was known by her children and grandchildren, was loving and caring. She had a deep faith in God, which is what helped her get through her many trials in life. She loved cooking, shopping, spending time with her family and dancing with her husband.

Surviving are a son, Samuel A. Carrera Jr., Wilkes-Barre; five daughters, Mary Woodyatt and husband, John, Washington, D.C., area; Susan Carrera, Ellicott City, Md.; Judy Mendola and husband, Michael, Clarks Summit; Celeste Godino and husband, Joseph, Scranton; and Karen Guditus and husband, Rick, Clarks Summit, with whom she resided; a brother, Zygmund Levandoski, Scranton; 11 grandchildren, Diana and Jaclyn Woodyatt, Lance and Kayla Carrera, George and Ronald Cavelius, Michael Mendola, Heather and Joseph Godino Jr., Ricky, Gregory and Kevin Guditus; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Joseph Levandoski; four sisters, Dorothy Norton, Stella Shea and infant sisters, Clare and Helen.

Her family would like to extend a special thanks to her wonderful doctors for many years of care, Dr. Edward Dzielak, Dr. Harmar Brereton, Dr. James Steffanelli and Dr. Roger Getts. They would also like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice Community Care.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton. Interment, parish cemetery, Moosic.
