Catherine "Kitty" O'Malley, 86, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday evening at Abington Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of Dr. Gerard O'Malley. The couple has been married for 57 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Christ and Margaret Devlin Kirias. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. She received her teaching degree from Marywood University and a Post Grad degree From Kean University, Union, N.J. She was employed as a teacher at the Robert Morris Elementary School, Scranton, Pa., Johnstown Elementary Schools, Johnstown, Pa. and the Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child, Summit, N.J. Kitty was a member of the Church of St. Benedict, Newton.

Kitty also volunteered her time at a hospice unit in Scotch Plains, N.J. and taught religious education at Holy Spirit Church in Union N.J.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Also surviving are a daughter, Dr. Miriam O'Malley and her fiancé, Robert Gerrity, S. Abington Twp.; a son, Atty. Jeffrey O'Malley and his wife, Julie, Huntington W.Va.; two grandchildren, Austin and Mary Margaret O'Malley; a sister-in-law, Margaret Kirias, Dunmore; three nephews, John, Harry and Christopher Kirias; and several other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Harry C. Kirias.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, Pa. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. All those attending are asked to go directly to the church.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.

Because of Kitty's love of children, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or donate by phone to 800-805-5856.

The family would like to thank the staff of Abington Manor for their excellent care and compassion of Kitty.
