Catherine A. Dixon of Clarks Summit died Monday in Mercy Hospice after a brief illness. Her husband was Richard F. Dixon. The couple would have been married for 53 years on Nov. 12.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late James and Catherine Kowalchuk, she resided in the Clarks Summit and Dalton areas for more than 50 years. She was a 1947 graduate of Nicholson High School.
"Cat," as she was known by her family, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched, especially her good friend, Helen, wth whom she walked daily.
She loved being in her home and taking care of her family, and always made cakes for her grandchildren's birthdays. She looked forward to and always enjoyed attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events and she was always so very proud of all of their accomplishments. She loved traveling on vacations with Rich to Florida and Arizona to visit relatives and friends.
Catherine's family would like to thank the staff of Moses Taylor Hospital's third floor and intensive care unit and the staff of Mercy Hospice for their care.
Also surviving are two sons, Gary Dixon and wife, Deborah, Clarks Summit; and Bradley Dixon and wife, Sandy, Fleetville; a daughter, Susan Dixon Todd and husband, Craig, East Stroudsburg; two sisters, Lorraine Wisnieski, Dalton; and Dorothy Rogers, Hop Bottom; five grandchildren, Jenna Irene and Joshua Richard Dixon, Carlin Rose and Kane Joseph Todd; and Jillian Ann Doran; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, James and Michael Kowalchuck, Daniel and Efran Lotoski; and three sisters, Mary Lotoski, Olga Stanton and Jean Psak.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home. Friends and family may call from 4 until service time. Interment, Clarks Green Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1101 Hill St., Jessup, 18434.
