Dr. Caroline Marianne Coffey, Ph.D., of Ithaca, N.Y., formerly of Clarks Green, died Tuesday.

Born June 20, 1980, in Dublin, Ireland, daughter of Michael and Patricia Malley Coffey of Clarks Green, she attended Our Lady of Peace School and was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School and the University of Scranton, where she received a degree in biology. She received her Ph.D. in medical sciences from Cornell University. She was an assistant professor at St. Joseph's University and was currently doing post-doctoral research at Cornell.

All who knew Caroline growing up through high school and college knew of her love for horses. An accomplished rider, she was the captain of the University of Scranton equestrian team. She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage. Her passion to see the world was always in her foresight and her most recent travels included trips to Costa Rica, Bolivia and Poland.

In her short life, she lived a lifetime. Caroline touched many lives, both here and around the world.

Also surviving is a brother, Paul, Lansdale.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Church of St. Gregory, North Abington Road, Clarks Green, by Monsignor John Louis, pastor. The family will receive friends from 1 until Mass time at the church.
