Carol Yacone, Scott Twp., died Saturday after a courageous battle with cancer. She and her husband, John "Jack" Yacone, married on July 27, 1985.

Born in Scranton, daughter of Ralph and Irma Beck Kowalewski of Scott Twp., she was a guidance secretary for Lakeland School District, a member of Our Lady of the Snows Parish and a 1976 graduate of Lakeland High School.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, and adored the students at Lakeland High School. She also enjoyed gardening, baking and helping others any way she could.

Also surviving are two sisters, Diana Comstock and husband, Robert, Scranton; and Susan Gammaitoni and husband, Richard, Dunmore; a niece, Alexis Benjamin and husband, Matthew, Duke Center; a nephew, Jeremy and wife, Katlyn, Olyphant; two great-nieces, Autumn and Breanne Benjamin; mother-in-law, Ruth Yacone, Dickson City; brother-in-law, Jimmy Yacone and wife, Shirley, East Benton; sister-in-law, Linda Morton and husband, Ken, N.J.; many aunts, uncles, cousins and her three beloved dogs, Cheyenne, William and Chloe.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Bart Yacone; maternal grandparents, Carl and Myrtle Beck; and paternal grandparents, Teofil and Sophia Kowalewski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery in Scott Twp.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
