Carol Grace Tarr Jenkins
Carol Grace Tarr Jenkins, born in Scranton on January 7, 1943, entered into eternity on June 6, 2017 after a complex illness. She was the daughter of the late Norman MacKenzie and Jessie Grace Rosengrant Tarr; stepdaughter of Donald L Eilenberger. Her late husband, her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Donald T Jenkins, passed away on February 2, 1999. They were married 38 years.
She was educated in Scranton Public Schools and her parents were regularly notified that she had the highest IQ ever recorded in Scranton during her school years; her yearbook refers to her as "the girl with the high IQ". She graduated from West Scranton High School in 1960 and was an active member of her high school reunion committee.
A lifelong member of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, she was ordained both as a Deacon and an Elder.
She had formerly been employed by Charming Shoppes/Fashion Bug stores for fourteen years where she reached the level of District Supervisor with as many as 10 stores to oversee. In 1990 she acquired her Pennsylvania Real Estate Sales License and was affiliated with Century 21 Sherlock Homes in that capacity. In 2007 she was licensed as a Pennsylvania Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser and worked in both sales & appraisals until January of 2017, when she became too ill to continue. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors and the Greater Scranton Board of Realtors where she served as a Director for several years, as well as President of that Board in 2008 and was named Realtor of the Year for 2009.
Carol was devoted to her family and was so proud of them. She was a people person, was passionate about life, and enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends. She loved her work and took pride in everything she did. A lover of genealogy, she belonged to the Cape Breton Genealogical Society, the Wyoming County Historical Society and the Genealogical Research Society of Northeastern Pennsylvania by whom she was honored with a plaque in recognition of her service to Family Historians.
She is survived by her four beloved daughters, Shari Grace Jenkins, Clarks Summit; Amy Elizabeth Yarns (Christopher), South Abington Township; Christiane Elaine Borders (William), Aurora IL; and Jessica Ruth Wells (Donald A Jr), Ransom Township.
