Carl E. Sampson, 95, went peacefully to his heavenly home on July 31, 2021, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.


Born in Schultzville, Pa., to Leon and Ethel Bailey Sampson, he was a graduate of Clarks Summit High School, then worked at the family garage for more than 50 years. Carl served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre.

Carl was an avid sports fan and played for the Chinchilla Rabbits baseball team. He was a member of Waverly Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. He possessed a Christian faith and was a peaceful and loving man whom everybody adored.

He is survived by his wife and caregiver, Barbara; daughter, Julie Ann Drazba; granddaughter, Jennifer; several nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his first wife, Arline, in 1985; brothers, Ronald and Selmer Sampson; and sister, Janet LaCoe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit, by Rev. Stephen Asomah, assistant pastor. Interment with military honors will follow at Glenwood Mausoleum, 703 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Masks will be required for all services.

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140; or Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William St., Dunmore, PA 18510.
