Services have been changed for Carl B. Bedell, of Hilltown, PA, who passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020, at his home. He was 83. He was the husband of Sylvia (LaCoe) Bedell.  The couple had celebrated their 53 rd Wedding Anniversary on August 6, 2019.

Born in Mill City, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond "Jim" and Marie (Veety) Bedell.

A 1955 graduate of Falls-Overfield High School, Falls, PA, he attained his Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education from Mansfield State Teachers' College, Mansfield, PA, in 1959, and his Master's Degree in Mathematics from Penn State University in 1963.

Carl began his career as an educator teaching Mathematics at Dan McCarty High School, in Fort Pierce, FL, after which he taught for three years at Upper Moreland High School, Willow Grove, PA.  Then, he taught Applied Mathematics and Statistics for 34 years at the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science (now Philadelphia University/Thomas Jefferson University) until retiring in 1999.

He was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Perkasie, PA.

Carl especially enjoyed farming on his ten acres, keeping his fruit and vegetable stand stocked.  He loved traveling and experiencing different cultures with family and friends.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Elaine Kay Bedell, of Stroudsburg, PA, and Gail Bedell Smeraldi and her husband Dr. Alessandro Smeraldi, of Clarks Summit, PA; and two grandchildren, Hayley Marie and Caleb Giovanni Smeraldi.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the Glen Oak Country Club, 250 Oakford Road, Clarks Summit, PA  18411.  Face masks are required.  Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Newton Cemetery, Newton, PA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, 110 N. Sixth Street, Perkasie, PA 18944.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
