Bruce W. Ott of South Abington died Wednesday evening at Mountain View Care Center, Scranton. His wife is the former Janet Pierotti. The couple married in 1966.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Milton and Gertrude Hughes Ott. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School and attended Our Lady of the Snows Church with his wife for many years. Before his retirement, he was a systems programmer for MetLife, also working for more than 35 years at the Trane Company and Emery Worldwide. He also served on the South Abington Parks and Recreation Committee for many years.
Bruce was a man who loved his family deeply. He often enjoyed cheering for his grandchildren at sporting and school events, as well as fishing and biking with his family. He let his loved ones know that love sacrifices for their friends, quitting is never an option, and without exception, to always follow through.
Surviving are two daughters, Dana Siebecker and her husband, Kevin of South Abington, and Maura Negvesky and her husband, Darren of Jessup; three grandchildren, Ryan and Chase Siebecker, and Kaia Negvesky; two nieces, Tara Brown and Tara Pierotti; and one nephew, William Galella.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Lou Galella.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Mountain View Care Center and Compassionate Care Hospice for their kindness and excellent care of Bruce.
A blessing service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by Msgr. Michael J. Delaney, pastor of Our Lady of the Snows. Interment will follow at Abington Hills Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 or at alz.org .
