Bob Scholl, Lake Winola, left this earth on July 3, 2021. His wife of 51 years, Ellen Lotz Scholl, and his family were by his side. He was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend, and so much more.
Born in Scranton on September 9, 1946, to the late Warren and Hilda Reilly Scholl, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School.
He leaves behind two sons: Marc and his wife Erin and Josh and his wife Arielle, all of Lake Winola; four grandchildren: Kyle, Emily, Wyatt, and Brody; sister, Judy Traino and her husband Joseph, Archbald; brother-in-law, Arnie Lotz and his wife Kathy, Clarks Summit; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy "Doc" Scholl.
As a passenger in a car accident at the age of 19, he was paralyzed from the neck down for a year. He recovered and, in spite of his residual paralysis, he was able to join the Merchant Marines. He traveled all over the world and served in Vietnam for three months under a shower of agent orange. After that, he became an owner-operator and drove seven million miles accident-free. He hauled the lights for the band "Chicago" in the late '70s and early '80s. Afterward, he drove coast to coast twice a month bringing produce to the east coast. He was able to take his wife, kids, and grandchildren on trips across the country. There was no GPS then, but he could always find his way.
He was devoted to his wife, his Love and best friend and was a wonderful, caring, loving father and proud grandfather. His wife and family always came first. He provided a good living for all of them.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sheela Prahalad for all of the years caring for Bob, Commonwealth Home Health, nurse John Thomas, PT & OT and Allied Hospice nurses Chris Remas, Deb, aide Denise.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Allied Hospice.
