Beverly Lois Walters Shaw of Clarks Summit died Monday morning at Mountain View Care Center. She was the widow of Leslie Shaw, who died Sept. 25, 2008.
Born in Syracuse, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late William and Nina Long Walters. She was a very dedicated member of the Christian Science Church and served in the roles of second reader and treasurer with the Christian Science Church in Scranton for many years.
She loved spending time with her family, listening to big-band music and bird watching. Beverly was an avid animal lover and especially loved cats. She was the type of person whom everyone grew to love as soon as they met her.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Sacred Heart and Mountain View Care Center for the compassionate care provided to Beverly.
Surviving are two daughters, Robin Lavelle and husband, Patrick, Dalton; and Sandra Palazzo and husband, Louis, Pine Hill, N.J.; a son, Walter Shaw and wife, MaryAnn, Lilly; a sister, Carole Witter, E. Syracuse; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Clarks Green United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brent Stouffer, pastor, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, S. Abington Twp., PA 18411. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
