Beverly J. Hontz-Rowlands of Dalton died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Scranton. She is survived by her companion and soul mate, Frank Rowlands; the couple was to be married this summer.

Born in Dallas, daughter of the late Milt and Ann Whiting, she was a registered nurse at St. Francis Country House in Darby. She was an avid gardener and loved to plant and watch the beauty of her flowers as they grew. She was an extremely giving person who would help anyone in need.

Also surviving are a daughter, Allison Mack Pinto and husband, Adriano, Springfield; two sons, Chris Mack and wife, Lillian Rozin, Media; and Robert Hontz and wife, Deborah, Collegeville; two sisters, Linda Dante, Mountaintop; and Sharon Pakrouh, Wallingford; two brothers, Frederick Parrish and James Parrish, both of California; a step sister, Barbara Crowell, California; and a step brother, Charlie Bicking Jr., California; two grandchildren, Alex Pinto and Jeremy Mack; a stepdaughter, Melissa Ann Spencer and husband, Teddy, Nanticoke; a stepson, Jason Rowlands, Dalton; and a step-grandchild, Ashley Rake.

Friends may call Thursday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
