Beverly J. (Foss) Coon, 83, formerly of Clarks Summit, died Friday evening, June 5, 2015, at Wesley Village in Pittston, where she had been a resident for the past eight years. Beverly also resided in Naples, Florida for a number of years. She was the widow of Paul J. Coon, who died in January of 1986.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Foss and Lois (Kahl) Hopf. She was a past member of the Elm Park United Methodist Church in Scranton. Prior to her retirement, working in Naples, Florida, where she worked as a home health aide, also a certified nursing assistant for the former Community Medical Center, Scranton and earlier working as a lab technician with Dr. William Newman II in Clarks Summit.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed the simple things in life such as sewing, crocheting or sitting down with a good book. She always looked forward to Christmas Eve at her daughter Sandie's house, where they would listen to violin music and sing carols. Beverly was a true people person, striking up conversations with complete strangers only to learn their life story in a short amount of time.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Wesley Village for their warm and compassionate care. They all made Bev (Cooney) feel like she was at home.

Surviving are six daughters, Debra Faraday and her husband, Robert Jr., Scott Twp.; Patricia Pensak and her husband, Ronald, Clarks Summit; Carol Mendicino and her husband, James, Naples, Fla.; Sharon Reese and her husband, Richard, Clarks Summit; Paula Landseidel and her husband, Clarence, Dalton; and Sandra Basta and her husband, Michael, Jenkins Twp.; grandchildren, Dawn Hunsinger, Bobbi Jo Klinkel, Tyler and Morgan Pensak, Jamie and Mark Mendicino, Michelle Caughenbaugh, Amanda Reese, Sarah, Matthew and Brandy Landsiedel, Kristen and Michael Paul Basta; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 9, 2015 at noon from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment to follow in Milwaukee Cemetery.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
