Betty N. Snyder, Clarks Summit and Lake Winola, died Thursday morning at Community Medical Center. She was the widow of Benjamin E. Snyder, who died in 2001.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Nicholas R. Nicholas and Myrtle Rhule Nicholas Hill, she was a member of the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, as well as its choir and the Esther Circle. She loved Lake Winola, where she was a member of the Cottagers Association. She was a graduate of Central High School in 1933, and later Lackawanna Business College. She was the former president of the Scranton YWCA and a former member of the Abington Women's Club.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Snyder and wife, Rosemary, Bensalem; and Nelson Snyder II and wife, Dolores, Harvey's Lake; three grandchildren, Gail Snyder Shochet, Baltimore; Nelson Snyder III, Dallas; and Robin Snyder Wilson, Whitehall; and four great-grandchildren, Corwyn, William, Joseph and Emily. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard.
A private funeral will be held at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Judy Wanck, pastor of the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church. Interment, Shady Lane Cemetery, South Abington Twp.
