Betty Jane Jenkins, 89, Scott Twp., died Friday morning in the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger CMC in Scranton. She was the widow of Thomas Jenkins who died in 2010. The couple had been married for 64 years.
Born in Washington DC, she was the daughter of Bertram and Emma Kunz Bell. She was a graduate of Central High School and the Mary Wood University. Prior to retirement she was employed as an elementary librarian for the Scranton School District. She was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church, as well as their Challenger Class.
She was also a member of the Century Club and known as an outstanding card player. She loved to travel and take cruises with her husband.
In her early years Betty was a den mother and enjoyed watching her sons play sports. She will dearly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are five sons Thomas and his wife Terry Jean, Cantonment Fl, Bruce and his wife Kitty, Dillsburg, PA, William and his wife Jacqueline, Scott Twp., Mark and his wife Florence, Evans, GA, and David and his wife Mary, Ballston Lake, NY; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family with interment in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
