Betty W. Dietrich, 91, formerly of So. Abington Twp., died Monday morning at Allied Skilled Nursing Facility in Scranton. She was the widow of Frederich J. Dietrich who died in 2013.
Born in Taylor, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Edith M. Jones Williams. She was a 1942 graduate of Central High School and attended the Powell School of Business. Prior to her retirement, she was an Administrative Assistant for Adult Education at Lackawanna County Vo-Tech and Personnel manager at Harper & Row Publishers.
Betty was a member of the Clarks Green United Methodist Church, Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Keystone Consistory, and the Abington Women's' Club. She was an active member of the Junior Century Club and the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She volunteered for many years at the Scranton Cultural Center, the retired senior volunteer program and the Anthracite Heritage Museum. Betty was very proud of her Welsh heritage and enjoyed many years traveling with her husband to his Masonic, Consistory and Shrine activities.
She is survived by her longtime friend, Charlotte Iori; numerous cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 am at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by Rev. Brent Stouffer, pastor of the Clarks Green UMC. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
