Betty Jane Bunnell

Betty Jane Bunnell, Falls, died surrounded by her family on Wednesday morning.

Born in Lehighton, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Bessie Kresge. Before retirement, she was a nurse who worked with both Clarks Summit State Hospital and the Visiting Nurses Association. She also worked with the CDC, and spent many years doing private duty nursing. Betty was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Northeast Pa. Orchid Society, as well as a member of the West Falls Baptist Church. She spent her time pursuing her passions of painting, quilting and traveling. One of her greatest joys was taking visitors on tours of her gardens.

Surviving are three sons, David and his wife, Chris, Spokane, Washington; Jonathon and his wife, Cindy, Clarks Summit; Mark, Falls; and daughter-in-law, Susan; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ellen Jane Holman; a son, George "Chip" Bunnell; her former husband, George Bunnell; a brother, Willard Kresge; and a sister, Melba Harrison.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Thomas Harmon, pastor of the West Falls Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Twp.

Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
