Beryl J "Grammy" Astolfi, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Allied Services Hospice and Palliative Care after an illness (not Covid-19 related). She was preceded in death by her husband James "Poppy" Astolfi.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Gladys Davies Nafus. She graduated in 1958 from Scranton Central High School and, before retirement, she was employed by Golo Shoe Factory, Dalton Elementary School Crossing Guard, The Dalton Pharmacy and The Heritage Shoppe Hallmark Store.
"Grammy", as she was known to by so many, enjoyed spending time with her family and Dalton friends, sitting on her porch, and doing puzzle books. She was especially known for her famous sauce and meatballs. Beryl was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church and its choir and was a lifetime member of the Dalton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Astolfi Burger and husband Jim, Factoryville, Linda Astolfi-Lewis and husband Dave, Scranton, and Melissa Astolfi, Dalton; her one and only granddaughter, DaVae Lewis, Scranton, and her "grandson" Brian Gray, Dalton; sisters Ann Copeland, Topeka, KS, and Fay Davies, Butler, PA; brother-in-law Louis Astolfi, Roaring Brook Twp., PA; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Donald and John Nafus, and a sister Judy Nafus.
The family would like to thank the staff at Allied Hospice Services and Palliative Care for the wonderful care they provided.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date for all who can attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dalton United Methodist Church, 125 S. Turnpike Rd, Dalton, PA 18414 or UCP of NEPA, 425 Wyoming Ave, Scranton, PA 18503.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
