Benjamin M. Stone, 88, of Waverly, died Sunday morning, March 12, at Allied Skilled Nursing Unit in Scranton. He was the husband of Naoma Leasure Stone.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Dr. Edward Stanley and Margaret Elizabeth Carpenter Stone. He was a graduate of Waverly High School and went on to receive his Master's degree in business administration with a minor in theology from Columbia Union College. He was employed as a greens keeper at various local golf courses including Glenn Oaks Country Club and Emanon Country Club, and also at Elk Mountain Ski Resort in the winter months. He was a member at the Tunkhannock Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Benjamin loved outdoors activities and enjoyed bike riding and laying by the pool.
Also surviving are two sons Benny Stone, Factoryville; and David Stone and his wife Cathy, Redland Ca; two daughters Margaret Davies, Nicholson; and Dottie Yates and her husband Mike, Millerstown; a sister Rachel Michaels, Waverly; seven grandchildren Bryan Yates, Becky Page and her husband Dustin; Nichole, Seth, and Tabitha Davies, and Aiden and Erin Stone; and Paul "Paco" Cozzoli, who Ben considered his son, and his wife Ann, Nicholson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Lucille Stone.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at noon from the Tunkhannock Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1 Shadow Brook Dr. Tunkhannock Pa. 18657, with services by Rev. Thomas Cusack, Pastor. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this Sunday, March 26 from 11 am until time of service at the church.
