Listen to Obituary

Ben Robert Stuenzi, born July 18, 1931, met Jesus face to face on July 27, 2021 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Ben was born in Syracuse, New York to (Rudolph) Walter and Marie Stuenzi (Trefz). Ben married Mary Lou Woodworth on October 16, 1953 in Syracuse, NY. They were married for 67 years and shared 10 children and 79 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Marie; his sister Mary; his brothers Walter, Samuel, and Art; and his daughter Lisa. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou; his sons Dan (Shelly), Jeff, Mark (Debbie), Mike (Stacy), and Jamie (Tammy); his daughters Linda (Ralph), Debbie (Ken), Mary, and Jessica (Liz); and his brother Teo.

Ben worked in a variety of careers during his life including co-owner and manager of a dry cleaning business, a data processor, a bus driver, and an appliance store manager. He also served in numerous roles within his church communities throughout the years.

Ben was strongly committed to living a life that imitated Jesus. He was guided daily by the words of Scripture, and he strongly desired to live in such a way that would please God. He loved people without condition, offered forgiveness readily, and truly extended kindness to all, most especially those who were outcasts. When the Lord brought opportunities to serve, he was quick to respond. He was a gentle, stable presence in his children's lives and had an incredible sense of humor. His sense of frugality was at times astonishing, especially to his wife. He was not interested in fanfare or attention and was satisfied with living a simple life. He was dearly loved by those who knew him and will be greatly missed.
