Arthur J. Sives, 89, of Falls, died Thursday in Highland Manor Nursing Care Center in Exeter. His wife, Lois M. Compton, died in 2008.
Born in Falls, son of the late Milford and Florence Hartin Sives, Arthur was a graduate of Falls Overfield High School and an Army veteran of World War II. Before retirement, he was a mechanical technician for Procter & Gamble.
Arthur enjoyed gardening, especially growing vegetables and beautiful roses. He also had a passion for birds, particularly hummingbirds, and he built many birdhouses and feeders.
Arthur is survived by a son, Kevin and wife, Carla, of Apalachin, N.Y.; a daughter, Sheila Sives of Blue Bell; two grandsons, Bradford Sives of Belcamp, Md.; and Nathaniel Sives of Scranton; several nieces and nephews.
Arthur was also preceded in death by five sisters, Evelyn Bachman, Dorothy Partches, Ethel Brown, Elizabeth Banks and Marie Randazzo.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Falls. Friends may call Monday, 6 to 8 p.m.
