Arthur G. "Dutch" Pallman of South Abington Twp. died Wednesday night at Hospice Community Care in Dunmore. His wife is the former Leona Thompson. They were married for 64 years.

Born in South Abington Twp., son of the late Williard and Ruth M. Godwin Pallman, he was the owner/operator of Pallman Farms, where he was a pioneer in the turkey business. He was a life member of the Pennsylvania Vegetable Growers Association, Lackawanna/Wyoming County Farm Bureau and a recipient of the Pennsylvania Master Farmers Award in 1988. He was also a member of the Schultzville United Methodist Church, Country Side Community Church and Waverly Lodge 301 F&AM. He was an National Honor Society graduate of Clarks Summit High School in 1940.

A lifetime of commitment and hard work developed into a successful farm that he started with his mother. His favorite place was the farm, where he was close to his family while working with his boys. He will be missed seen riding his golf cart and lawnmower on the farm. He died with his family by his side.

Also surviving are three sons, Richard and wife, Sylvia, Newton Twp.; Brian and wife, Jane, South Abington; and Bruce and wife, Debra, Clarks Summit; a daughter, Betsy Jayne and husband, William, Newton Twp.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, W.E. Pallman.

A special thank you to Dr. Martin, Denise and the staff of Hospice Community Care, who cared for Dutch and showed the family such compassion.

The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. J.P. Duncan, pastor of the Countryside Community Church in Newton Twp. Interment will be in Abington Hills Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to Hospice Community Care, 100 Williams St., Dunmore, PA 18512.
