Listen to Obituary
Arthur Faraday Jr. of Clarks Summit died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital. He and his wife, the former Frances Garrison, celebrated 63 years of marriage in February.

Born Sept. 6, 1925, son of the late Arthur and Emma Schuman Faraday, he was a resident of the Newton-Ransom area most of his life. Before his retirement in 1987, he was employed by the Swanee/Potlatch Paper Co. for 44 years. He was an active member of the Countryside Community Church and an avid fan of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons. Art and Fran enjoyed 21 wonderful years of retirement together and lived life to the fullest.

He enjoyed his winters in Florida, bowling and the casinos. He never refused a good piece of chocolate, never tasted a fruit or vegetable and was probably the only man in town to have a remote control for everything he owned.

He was a dear and loving husband, an awesome father and a very proud grandfather who will always be remembered for his love of life and the enthusiasm in which he embraced each new day. It is with much love and great respect that he will be dearly missed by his entire family, friends and community.

Also surviving are two sons, Ronald and wife, Peggy, Clarks Summit; Dale and wife, Susan, Stroudsburg; a daughter, Darla Petty and husband, Dennis, Clarks Summit; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, Robert, Clarks Summit; a sister, Sandra Wilson, Mount Vernon, Ill.; nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Countryside Community Church, Newton-Ransom Boulevard, Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Dr. Jean-Pierre Duncan, pastor. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery.

Friends and family may call Sunday, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Memorials may be made to the Countryside Community Church, 14001 Church Hill Road, Clarks Summit, 18411.
