Anne Mary Kovacs

Anne Mary Kovacs, 83, of Justus, passed away after an illness on Monday, at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. She was the wife of the late Ladiszlau Stephen Kovacs who died in 1996.

Born in New York in 1934, she was the daughter of the late William P. Reddy and Anna "Reddy" Arndt, and step-daughter to Walter Arndt. She lived in Teaneck, New Jersey where she met her husband Steve. They both worked for Western Union, where Anne was an operator and Steve a technician.  They transferred to Pennsylvania, eventually settling in Justus in 1968. Anne, also known to many as "Big Anne," started her Nursing Aide Career at the old Blakely Home in Montdale/Scott Twp., Pa.  She finished out her career at St. Gabriels Monastery Retreat House in Clarks Summit and retired. Through the years she was a Girl Scout Leader at the Mt Bethel Methodist Church in Justus, a member of the elite and exclusive Tuesday Afternoon Club of Lake Winola, and president of the Keyser Valley Seniors Women's Bingo.

She is survived by her daughters, Anne Mary "Kovacs" Cappellini of Olyphant, Patricia Kovacs (Patty), of Renton, Wash.; grandchildren, Connie Ann "Kovacs" Boshman,  Joanna Cappellini and Lisa Marie Kovacs. Also surviving her are four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kyle, Hailey and Riley Boshman.

She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Steve in 2005 and youngest son, John in 2004.

Anne passed away at Hospice Sacred Heart in Dunmore with her daughters Ann, Patty and granddaughter Joanna holding her hands.

A funeral service and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
